2017 Production - Dancing Through The Decades

To celebrate the 60th birthday for Panmure Bridge School did a production. Each class had a decade that they had to dance from. In LS2 we have the 70's and 80's and our songs are I See Red, Staying Alive and Footloose. I was shocked when I found out that we had to dance to these old classics but at the same time I was excited. Before our dance we had 2 junior classrooms and the Kapa Haka group do there item. I was really nervous before going on the stage, but after we finished our dance I wasn't that nervous.

Footloose 2017 Producation

Yesterday we had dance. Everyone got into three different groups. Each group had a different song to dance to. The songs were I See Red, Footloose and Staying Alive. I was in the group that danced to Footloose. Our dance instructor Zoe helped us to come up with dance moves. We had lots of fun learning dance moves from the past decade. During our dance Mrs Anderson took a video of us. Today we were able to rewind our learning from yesterday and practise our dance for the 2017 production. We watched our dance and looked for any mistakes. By watching the video and practising we were able to improve a lot.

Dance Evaluation

This is my dance evaluation that I created. For dance, we made a video with us doing our dance moves that we thought up. First, we worked in pairs, then we joined another pair and combined our moves to make our dance better. Mataio and I joined up with Ofa and Josh S.

Dance Evaluation

Today we have been adding to our dance routines. To help us evaluate Mrs Anderson filmed our dance. In my opinion my group needs to work on timing and working together. I think we did good on do the snake move, and it was my favorite.

Dance Session

Today for our dance we were adding and making our dance routine better. Ofa, Josh S, Mataio and I, all had to keep in time and flow with the music. The best new move that we added was the snake dance move. I really like that because we were always on time and did not miss the beat.

Dance

This week for dance we were adding new moves to our dance. Our actions needed to be sync with the music. I think our moves were realy good and we picked a good song that flows with our moves. My favorite move was the staircase because we were doing it at the right time and we did not mess it up.

Dance

Today for dance we were learning how to make shapes that flow into other shapes. Mataio and I thought it would be cool to make a stair case. We had to use our hands. Mataio had to go on one knee because he was too tall. Today was really fun because I did something I had never done before.

Dance - Shapes

This morning we had dance. At dance we had to make different shapes using our bodies. We first warmed up to get our muscles loose. Then after that we watched a video that showed us what the free and bound flow is and how you make them. The free flow is when you move your body as if it was a made from rubber and the bound flow is when you move your body like a robot. Mataio and I had to make twisted, straight curved and angular shapes. We had to switch between high and low levels. A low level shape is a shape that is close to the ground and the high level shape is when you perform your shape in a high position. After that we had to combine groups and show each other our shapes that we had made. I thought Ofa and Josh's shapes were awesome and creative. My favorite part of dance is when we're making the different shapes with our partners. Dance was fantastic and I really enjoyed it.

Dance Session

Today was a great day. We had our first dance session of the year. It was also new to Mrs Anderson because she had never taught dance in her teaching career. First we had to do a warm up so during the session when we do a plank or something else we are going to get tired and our muscles are going to hurt. Then we had to make our own warm up routine with our partner. With my partner Mataio we did seven warm up routines. My favorite routine was the derpy's. A derpy is berpys but when we get up we have to dab. I liked the it because I could do it fast and easy. I think next time I need to add more exercises to my routine and make it a bit longer.
