Something I have read or watched that is like this is...
Something I know about that is like this is...
My reaction to this story is...
A book that I have read is called The Bantam and the Soldier. It is about a kiwi who goes off to war and he finds a Bantam. Image result for The Bantam and the Soldier

USA and North Korea might have a conflict because North Korea is showing off how much firepower they have and Donald Trump might make the wrong decision.
After hearing the story I felt sorry for Jim and his wife. I felt this way because the bomb might have dropped in the wrong place.
This is a making connections dlo that I have created with the help of my friend Sylis. In this it includes three parts text to text, text world and text to self. I did this for our graphic novel study that we did on a book called When The Wind Blows.

Something that has happened to me is that when I was in Australia I had a new mate and when it was time for me to come back to New Zealand he felt really sad.
I feel quite sad because his best friend is leaving him. But also happy because he is going to have a new baby brother.
This is my making connections that I have made. The book I had to make connections to was Best Mates. It is about a boy and his best friend is move to Auckland. To find out what happens you can listen to the book by clicking here

I have read book called The Seven Stars Of Matariki. This book links to the Sons of Ma’afu because it includes stars. The book is about a boy named Mitai and he lives with his seven handsome brothers. He watches his brothers become bewitched by seven beautiful women, and under their spell, the brothers no longer eat, look after themselves, work in their gardens or hunt. Image result

5 Facts about the Southern Cross
  1. The Southern Cross is a pattern of stars in the Milky Way galaxy.
  2. It was named by 16th-century European explorers, who recognised the shape of a cross.
  3. The stars are visible in the southern hemisphere sky
  4. Its position near the South Celestial Pole means the Southern Cross is almost always visible from anywhere in Australia
  5. The cross changes position in the sky as the earth rotates. ‘

Something that has happened to me is that once I threw a rock and accidently broke the back window of our car.

Today I have created this after reading a book called The Sons of Ma'afu. In the story there are two brothers who keep on getting in trouble. But one day they were using there dad as a target to throw there spear. Then the villagers had enough of the boys nonsense so they wanted to send them to get water from Atavahea. Then the next day the boys got there coconut shells and headed to Atavahea. When they got in the water a huge bird jumped up to get them. But the boys fought hard and got the water. They went back to the village and the people were still not happy with them. Then this time they sent them to Muihatafa to get water from the bottom of the pool. Muihatafa is a vicious trigger fish. This book that I have read is the same as a tv show called Mike The Knight. It is similar because it has a dragon. Image result for mike the knight dragon
The top of the mountain is flat because during Awarua’s flying practise he crashed and flattened the mountain.Image result for mana island poriruaScreenshot 2017-02-21 at 11.45.19 AM.png
As a New Zealander I like this book because it tells me more about the NZ legends.    Image result for maori flagImage result for nz flag
Today we have been reading a book called Awarua The Taniwha Of Porinui. In our reading groups we all read one paragraph each. Then we were given a task to make a connection to the text, world and yourself. The text to text is to write down what the book is similar too. For text to world we needed to write why the Mana island is flat. Also for the text to self we needed to write if you liked the book or not.
