L.I To investigate the 3 multiplication strategies.
This week for maths we had to teach each other the strategies we learnt in our groups. Mr Ogilvie got us into groups of 3 or 4. I had to teach my group the Japanese method the I learnt my group had to teach me the Korean and Algorithm method that they learnt. I learnt the Korean and Algorithm method.

Olympic Athlete: Michael Phelps

This week in Ls1 we had to pick an Olympic athlete that played in the Rio 2016 Olympics and Paralympics.
We had to do some research on the person using the Five W's and the H. The person I chose was Michael Phelps. I chose Michael Phelps because he is one of my favorite athletes in the Olympics.

Poi Making

Poi Making
  • High Density form
  • Wool
  • Sticky Tape
  • 2 White Plastic
  • Needle and Thread
  • Scissors
:To assemble
  • Tin Can
  • Plastic containers
  1. Cut form into a sphere
  2. Wrap the tin can with a wool
  3. Get wool out of tin can
  4. Hold the wool from inside palm and lead it to inside elbow.
  5. Need eight strings per section
  6. Tie the wool to make a knot
  7. Pass the string through the wool
  8. Let the wool slide to the middle
  9. Tie with a string at the top of the wool
  10. Make a little hole in the form
  11. Put the knot into the hole
  12. Sew it together
  13. Wrap it in plastic paper
  14. Wrap the wool and tape around the stem of the poi

This week for writing we had to watch a video video called how to make a poi. We needed to take notes because we were going to writing a procedure. I learnt how to make a poi.


L.I: To understand what hauora is and what it means to athletes past and present.
This is the Hauora must do that I did with Latham. I found this interesting because I learnt lot's of new things that I did not know.

This week for maths we had to apply our prior knowledge to real life. Mr Ogilvy gave us 5 thousand dollars for each pair. We  had to go off look at the brooches and try to buy 10 things and then subtract and them till we get our answer.

This week for writing we had to read a Procedural text called How to play marballs.

This week group Ngauruhoe had to read a text called The Robbers mask. We had to skim and scan for words that we didn't understand. Then we had to make a word web for the words. I learnt that trotted means to run a faster pace than walking.

Inquiry - Training

This my inquiry for these past 3 three or 4 weeks. I was doing training with Mr Ogilvy. I learnt that Rugby uses Agility, Strength and Endurance.

This week group Ngauruhoe read a text called comets. We had to go and summaries the text we read. I learnt that Edmund Haily was the first person to predict that it will come back in 2061.

Today for writing we have been learning about procedural text.
