Today for Inquiry we were discussing why it's important to speak out and stand up against a bully. Bullies come in lots of different sizes. It is important to stop a someone from bullying a child because they are smaller and can get hurt very easily. If you see someone getting bullied you should help them and tell the bully to cut it out and stop bullying him/her, you attention seeker. Then ask the child if they're ok, and say don't show your emotions. Above is a short skit that Jaydon, Ofa and I have made about standing up to bullies.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Ms Kirkpatrick and Mrs Anderson.

Key Into Inference - Map
This week for reading my group (Ruru) has been doing Key into inference. I read text 5 which was Kim. It was about a boy name Kim who came home in the night without anyone in his house. He looked around his house and didn't hear or see any of his family members. When he went to the kitchen he brought out a torch from the kitchen draw and shone onto the table. On table there was a letter which said ‘Have gone to the vet, we shouldn’t be too long’. After reading the text we were given questions to answer like what time of day was it? My answer was the time of day was night time because in the story it says he stood for a while, until his eyes were used to the dark. We had to use part of the question and part of the text to get our answer. At the end there was a activity we had to do. We had to Draw a map showing the directions from our bed to the kitchen for a drink of water if the power was out and we couldn’t see. The DLO above shows you my how to get from my bedroom to my kitchen in my ho

Two Day Wonder Poem
Today for reading our group Ruru were doing poems. We had to read a poem called Two Day Wonder and then answer some questions about it. Today I learnt a new word called juxtaposition. The thing I found hard about this task was listing the words because it was a bit tricky finding them.
There is a clever contrast between the way the poet describes yesterday and today. List all the words that give you a feeling of being sick, sad, depressed or bored. - Grumbled, Sulked, Dragged, Silent, Yawned and drooped
Now list all the words that describe feeling well, happy, bright and active from the second verse. - Gallops, Shines, Dances, Swish, better, Hurry, flying and clatter
The lines from each verse matchup 1 also. List five of the opposite images. This first one is done for you.
The street stretched silent - Cars swish, skateboards clatter.
Clouds dragged, low and slow - Clouds hurry, high and flying.
The World yawned and grumbled - The World shines and dances.
My bike lay on the drive - My bike waits by the garage.
The Dog sulked in his basket - The Dog gallops around the house.
Washing dropped on the line - Shirts, sheets, socks stream in the breeze.
This is called juxtaposition. The fact of two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect.

After we had learnt that we were whizzing through the questions. I found this task the most challenging so far. The last thing we had to do was make a DLO. We had to choose one problem to solve, and include our strategy.

Evaluation of My Animated Digital Story
The digital media outcome will be an animated digital story in ‘Scratch’, relating to the context of Healthy Living in the Tamaki community.
The animated story must include the following:
- Information on that informs readers about concepts relating to Healthy Living in the Tamaki community
- At least two sprites
- At least two different backdrops
My Animated Digital Story is about why Littering is a problem
My Animated Digital Story relates to the context of Healthy Living in the Tamaki Community because littering is unhealthy to the community and if it keeps on happening our home will be polluted.
My Animated Digital Story informs readers about concepts relating to Healthy Living in the Tamaki Community by telling them why it is important to stop littering.
My Animated Digital Story includes at least two sprites. These sprites are a rotten apple, a boy named Scott and a girl named Kylie.
My Animated Digital Story includes at least two different backdrops. These backdrops are a Playground, Soccer field and a beach.
I think that readers will enjoy my Animated Digital Story because It is persuasive and it will help them stop littering.
Changes and adjustments that I could make to improve my Animated Digital Story Include better backdrops, sprites and a longer Animated Story.

Digital Technology
In Digital Tech today we were carrying on with our own animated story using scratch. Ms Anderson was not there because she went to GEG. So there was a reliever to fill her spot. I am nearly finished with my animated story and I just need to do one more backdrop. I think my animated story about healthy living is going to be cool. I learnt how to switch from one backdrop to another.

Galloping Greyhounds
Today for maths, we have been learning how to add fractions. To add fractions you always need the denominator to be the same. After solving our word problem Oh Hsen and I made this DLO showing one problem that we have solved. For this weeks maths session I learnt how to add fractions. The thing that was hard for me was finding the answers because they were not like fractions.

Melissa: Key Into Inference
For reading today Ruru read a story called Melissa. The book was about a girl doing her letter deliveries and losing her hat. After we read it we had to answer some questions about it. Then everyone had to write the discussion Melissa might have with her Mum when she got home about her hat. I had trouble figuring out what the Mum would have said when Melissa lost her hat.

Footloose 2017 Producation
Yesterday we had dance. Everyone got into three different groups. Each group had a different song to dance to. The songs were I See Red, Footloose and Staying Alive. I was in the group that danced to Footloose. Our dance instructor Zoe helped us to come up with dance moves. We had lots of fun learning dance moves from the past decade. During our dance Mrs Anderson took a video of us. Today we were able to rewind our learning from yesterday and practise our dance for the 2017 production. We watched our dance and looked for any mistakes. By watching the video and practising we were able to improve a lot.

On The Bus Comic Strip
Today for our reading task ruru had to read a story called On The Bus. It was about a boy trying to get on a bus with his pig but he is not allowed so he tries to sneak the pig in his bag. It all works out and he gets to his Grandad's house. Then we had to make a comic strip on what would happen if the pig got out of the bag. I enjoyed doing this task because I got to be creative while making my comic strip. The thing I found hard about this task was getting the images because I could not find images that could fit with the comic strip.

Dad Meets The Martians
Dad meets the Martians
Retell the story of the poem in two sentences. Dad meet these aliens from Venus. He wanted to drive the flying saucer and the aliens wanted to drive the Ford, so they swapped cars.
What could the storyteller not explain? The storyteller could not explain why the Martins would want to drive Dad's Ford.
List three of the interesting verbs from the poem. Here I have listed three verbs from the poem - Drive, imported and flew
List three of the contractions from the poem and then write them out in full. This is three contractions from the poem that I have found - He’ll - He Will, I’d - I would and It’s - It is.
Today for our reading task we had to read a poem called Dad Meets The Martians. Then we had to answer some questions about the poem. I liked the poem because it was interesting and funny. My favorite part of the poem was when the Martians and the Dad swapped cars. The funny bit was why would the Martians swap cars with Dad. It was hard to retell the poem because I could only use 2 sentences.

Winter Learning Journey
During the holidays I took part in the Winter Learning Journey. The topic was a Kiwi road trip. We were exploring around New Zealand and we did lots of different activities. Each day there was two activities and a bonus activity. I really enjoyed doing this because I was doing reading and writing at home in a fun way. By doing that some people get prizes at the start of this term. There were 6 prizes given away because our school was so good. The 1st place comers were Daniel and Oh Hsen. Then, in 2nd place came Alex and AJ. Eric and Ofa came 3rd place. Nazella also got a prize for doing the best out of the girls during the Winter Learning Journey. All the other students who took part got a certificate. I think I am going to try really hard to get a prize during the Summer Learning Journey. I am also going to thank Rachel and her team for making this happen.

It Pays To Win
L.I - To use known and try new strategies to answer maths equations.
Today for maths Jeremiah and I have been working on a maths word problem. Jeremiah and I solved question one, two and three. Soon we had to make a DLO only on question three. Doing this maths problem we had to use our timetables knowledge and our addition and multiplication knowledge to solve the maths problem. It was a bit difficult to solve it out because we had to add and multiply big numbers. I had a very awesome time solving our this maths problem.
